The Shelton City Commissioners at their August 3rd meeting delayed taking action on the interlocal agreement with Mason County. It proved to be a wise decision since the Mason County Commissioners at their next meeting tabled the agreement until some future date.

The Mason County Board of Commissioners announced the receipt of federal stimulus dollars on two projects. The county received an award not to exceed $350,000 to pave a portion of McEwain Prairie Rd.

David Salzer, the Mason County Fire Marshal, told the city commissioners at the July 6th meeting, that the Fourth of July was relatively quiet for Shelton and Mason County. Of the 6 licensed firecracker sales booths in Shelton, only one booth had illegal firecrackers, which the owners removed.  There was one fire reported, on Capitol Hill.

The proposed Intergovernmental Agreement between the City of Shelton and Mason County regarding the Processing Development Application within the Shelton Urban Growth Area (UGAO) has stirred up a lot of controversy. The agreement relates to changes in the growth management act in the Shelton city limits and surrounding areas. A public hearing was held on June 1st and continued by the city commissioners until June 15th.
